VIETNAM: Part 4 – Ha Long Bay

Photo taken by Hana Kim

During my 3 days in Hanoi, I spent a full day doing a tour of Ha Long Bay. I remember seeing a lot of people organizing to do overnight or 2-day cruises in the hotel lobby so make note of this if that’s something you’re keen on doing. I preferred doing the full day tour only and returning to the hotel at night as we wanted to spend the other 2 days exploring Hanoi.

The tour was organized with the hotel  – it was about a 3 hour drive to the pier for Ha Long Bay. I know there’s quite a few tour places where you can bargain for different prices and look at which tours you’d prefer to do, make sure to do your research as there are a lot of scammers as well. We just went with our hotel for peace of mind even though I think it was a little bit pricier.

The weather was not great when we arrived, it was cloudy and quite foggy. There was the occasional showers as well. The first stop was Thien Cung cave where we strolled through and took some really nice photos of all the different formations of stalactites and stalagmites.

The second (and last) stop of the tour was a kayaking/bamboo boat ride activity where you could go around and explore for about 45mins – 1hr. make sure if you’re doing this activity to bring a spare change of clothes or wear swimwear underneath as I basically had to sit in wet shorts for the next few hours after that. 😒

A tour of Ha Long Bay is something definitely worth doing when visiting Hanoi, the only downside was the fact I visited in October which is when the temperatures start to drop and its basically rainy season.

This concludes my Vietnam adventures! Stay posted for my next destination – Taipei 😊

VIETNAM: Part 3 – Hanoi

Happy New Year everyone!

After our two days in Da Nang we headed for Hanoi – we stayed at Oriental Suites & Spa Hotel and though the rooms are a little small, the service was impeccable and there were many English speaking staff as well. The hotel was located in pretty much the centre of everything in the Old Quarter and was super convenient to get around. When I do get the chance to come back to Hanoi, I would definitely stay at this hotel again 😊

VIETNAM: Part 2 – Hoi An

Hey all, I hope everyone’s had a lovely Christmas! 🎁🎊

During my two days in Da Nang, I also visited Hoi An for a day trip. Our hotel offered free shuttle services to and from Hoi An which was super convenient. I thought I’d dedicate an entire post to Hoi An just because it was the highlight of my Vietnam trip. In my opinion, Hoi An is a must when visiting Vietnam – there’s just so much culture and amazing food to try out that I honestly wish I had more time (or stomach space) to be able to try everything.

VIETNAM: Part 1 – Da Nang & Ba Na Hills

Taken by Hana KimThe first stop of my trip was Vietnam, the first few days we were in Saigon – mainly just eating, shopping, visiting family and lazing around so that won’t be the highlight of this blog BUT if you do have any questions on where to eat/what to do in Saigon feel free to leave a comment or message me! Next stop was Da Nang and I have to say, I really wish I had spent a little more time here as two days was too little.

One of the highlights of Da Nang for me was the Dragon Bridge, which looks spectacular at night time and changes colour every few minutes or so. There is also a show every Saturday and Sunday night at 9pm where the dragon breathes fire but unfortunately I missed out as I was there during the week but nonetheless this is something worth definitely checking out when you visit.

What’s In My Carry-On?

Hey all!

It’s been a while since my last blog post, apologies for the slack and lack of content for the past few months but we are back on track! I’ve been travelling quite a bit this year and was away for most of last month – visiting Vietnam, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong (stay posted for my travel adventures!) – so I thought it would be a good idea to start with a post of all the items I take with me during my flight.

Current Favourites

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetHi all! So I though I would call it current favourites instead of Monthly favourites as I don’t want it to be fixed as that’s what I’m loving that month only. We’ve been MIA lately, but we have been busy and we’ve also been working on some posts. Keep reading for my current favourites!
